When a group of people sought to advance their shared interest. For example gaining privileges while attempting to deny such things for their rivals

The fact he was deeply committed to his faith and his relationship with god formed a central part of his existence. He lived his life to the philosophy that was the Catholic Church. He attended mass everyday and did a pilgrimage to Walsingham. Defended the Catholic faith against Lutheranism.
On what grounds did Henry seek to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon
Catherine had been married to Henry’s brother, King Arthur.

Her family were powerful and would have given a great deal of heft and authority to the Tudor dynasty

Long term - He wanted to boost his own status and connections by establishing a link with France
Short term - Wanted to please Henry
