-thin outer layer called cerebral cortex which has large sa so is highly folded to fit into the skull
-involved in vision, learning, thinking and emotions
-dif parts involved in dif functions

Where is the hypothalamus located and it’s role

-found just beneath the middle part of the brain
-automatically maintains body temp at the normal level
-produces hormones that control the pituitary gland (just below hypothalamus)

Where is the medulla oblongata and it’s role

At the base of the brain at the top of the spinal cord
-automatically controls breathing and heart rate
