what are the three primary brain vesicles in a developing embryo?
the prosencephalon (forebrain), the mesencephalon (midbrain), and the rhombencephalon (hindbrain)
what are the five secondary brain vesicles in a developing embryo?
the telencephalon and the diencephalon (from the prosencephalon), the metencephalon and the myelencephalon from the rhombencephalon. the mesencephalon stays the same.
what are the 4 main regions in a fully-formed brain
the cerebellum, the brain stem (from the three most caudal sections), the diencephalon or interbrain, and the cerebral hemispheres
what are (4) things you find in the diancephalon?
the thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus and the mammillary bodies
what does the diancephalon regulate?
things like homeostasis, alertness, and reproductive activity, and part of the limbic system
what does the telencephalon develop into?
the cerebrum
