what 4 parts are the brain made up of?
cerebrum, cerebellum, brain stem, corpus callosum
what does the brain stem do?
it is also called the medulla and it connects the brain to the spinal cord. it also controls breathing, body regulations and hunger and involuntary actions
what does the cerebrum do?
it controls conscious thoughts and voluntary body movements.
what are the 2 parts to the cerebrum?
the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
what does the cerebral hemispheres do?
they control imagination, decision and cognitive function (thinking)
what does the cerebellum do?
it controls balance and coordination
what does the corpus callosum do?
it is a thick bundle of nerves that connects the 2 hemispheres and allows them to communicate.
what are the 4 cerebral lobes
frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobe
what does the occipital lobe do?
it controls vision
what does the frontal lobe do?
problem solving, reasoning, speech and movement
what does the parietal lobe do?
it is the perception of stimuli. it is also the knowledge of numbers and it controls spatial awareness
what does the temporal lobe do?
it controls the senses and language and memory center
