Q

Model answer localisation of brain function

A

Localisation of brain means different areas of the brain are responsible for different functions
The cerebral cortex is the outside layer of the brain which splits into four different lobes in each hemisphere and each has a different function.
The frontal lobe links to mood personality and impulse control. The temporal lobe links to memory and understanding language.the parietal lobe is for perceptions such as temperature pain and gets sensory information.the occipital lobe is responsible for visual processing.
An example of this in psychology is localisation of Ianguage as Paul broca who was a French neurosurgeon who studied a group of people with language problems he discovered they all had damage to the left hemisphere of the brain at the left sided of the frontal lobe associated with speech production therefore this shows how areas of the brain are responsible for different functions .
