Bracket positioning and Progress Flashcards
Palatally displaced U2s
Invert bracket to increase labial root tq
- usu. insufficient cause of more crown than root mvm
Missing U2s (canine to substitute)
1) U2 bracket on canine
2) Invert U3 bracket
3) Flipped L5 bracket
Missing U2s:
Pros and cons of U2 bracket on canine
PRO: correct Prtq
CONS:
- contour of bracket not compatible
- thickness of U2 bracket -> palatal displacement
- insufficient Prtq due to increased crown-root angle
Missing U2s:
Invert U3 bracket on canine
PROS CONS
PRO:
- distal tip remains
- base fit
- similar tip
- +ve torque
Missing U2s:
Flipped L5 bracket on canine
PRO CONS
PROS:
- increase Prtq (+17)
- curved base
- adjust bracket position for extra 6 deg drt
CONS
+2 in opposite direction
Cl. III camou canines
contra-lateral L3 brackets to encourage distal tipping
- reduce anchorage demand
P displaced canine
Invert contralateral L3 bracket to U3
- increase Lartq
NB only for Roth (9 deg diff) not MBT (1 deg diff)
Missing U1 (mesialising U2)
contralateral U1 bracket to increase mrt
- mesial surface of crown will be vertical
- allow built up on distal surface for optimal emergence profile
