Once a full blown type II infection occurs, many larvae emerge, causing dysfunction of the abomasum and possibly leading to severe albumin loss, diarrhea, and even death. As a reminder, Type II Ostertagia is the disease that causes a “Moroccan leather” appearance to the abomasum.
