a celtic warrior, Queen of Iceni Tribe in Britain. She had the most success of any Celts against the Romans
What role did Boudicca play?
Tacitus states that a whole nation of Celts took up under the command of Boudicca, woman of royal blood to go against Roman’s occupation in Britain
what cities did she successfully attack?
Colchester, London and St Albans, and burnt and pillaged everything in their path
What did they come close to defeating?
Romans who were forced to bring in reinforcements from Gaul to defeat her
led by Suetonius Paulinus
What happened to Boudicca when attacked by Romans?
Roman had control most part of Europe except Iceni territory.
when Boudicca’s husband, King Prasutagus dies, Romans refused to recognise her as Queen.
Resistance emerged when romans attacked tribe, whipped Queen Boudicca and raped her 2 daughters.
It was an obscene insult and wanted revenge

easy as no walls and wasn’t prepared. Soldiers and ppl ran into temple of Claudius hoping for legions to rescue them but didn’t.
the city was looted, ransacked and burned down, thousands killed.
What did Paulinus do when heard of uprising?
chose strategic location, valley, for attack on Briton.
What did britons/romans have?
war chariots, but Romans had strategy and wedge formation to overcome Celts screaming and unplanned attack, even if outnumbered by thousands.
What happened in revolt and to Boudicca? Outcome?
Boudicca lose to Paulinus and no one know what happened to her.
