A

Technology that the local people can use, maintain and repair themselves. Basic machinery and engineering.

A

Costs

A
  • Small scale so only helps a small number of people
  • They are led by the locals and not all of them are professional and trained, so can’t handle major situations
  • Can be poorly organised, which leads the whole idea going to waste
  • Have to rely on NGOs funding and donations from the locals, who may not want to donate
