Works on cholinergic receptors inhibiting the release of acetylcholine and causing muscle paralysis.

Any botox molecules which remain free and do not bind are pinocytosed.
What happens to the muscles when botox wears off?
Recovery of function is a gradual process over 3-6 months as nerve terminals sprout and reconnect the motor endplate.

What are the main drugs to avoid with botox?
Aminoglycoside antibiotics - can increase therapeutic effect.
Aspirin and warfarin - can increase risk of bleeding.
What illness can you not have botox with?
Myasthenias gravis - neuromuscular condition that causes muscle weakness.
