Q

What is the principle of priority?

A

The oldest legitimate name takes precedence over all later published names. This was first used as a way to increase the stability of names.

Q

How does nomenclature differ to taxonomy?

A

Nomenclature is independent of the science as it only represents rules for naming not how to designate or define taxa.

Q

What is Superfluity?

A

Q

What are Heterotypic synonyms?

A

Heterotypic synonyms have different types, and the
authors of this monograph have made the taxonomic

Q

What form do virus names take?

A

Virus species names do not take the form of a Latin
binomial. Every new taxon from the species upwards has to be created by a proposal to the International Committee on the Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV), which is reviewed by the Executive Committee and, if approved, is then ratified by a vote of ALL ICTV members.
