Austria - Hungary took over Bosnian
Serbia was right next to Bosnia and worried they’d be next
Serbia was friends with Russia and asked for help
Russia told Austria - Hungary to back down
Austria - Hungary asked for help from Germany
Germany told Russia to back down
Russia backed down because their army was not ready

How did this lead to WW1?

Austria - Hungary was looking for an excuse to get to Serbia and believed that Germany would support them in whatever they did.
Russia was angry about having to back down and promised to fight next time
