Upper respiratory tract infection

What are the symptoms?
A
Severe cough, rhinorrhea (runny nose), inspiratory whooping

What are the risk factors?
A
<6months, close contact with infected person, transmission, no immunisation

What investigations can we undertake?
A
Culture, PCR, serology, oral fluid testing

What are the managements?
A
Notify public health, supportive care, hand hygiene, antibiotics

What are the complications?
A
Pneumothorax (collapsed lung), bronchiectasis (permanent lung damage)
