- South wanted to keep it traditional, and thought that it was against the church for women to ba doing what they were doing. In the 1920s, fundamentalism became a prominent Christian movement in the United States that opposed modernism, secularism, and scientific theories that contradicted their religious beliefs.

The Scopes Trial, also known as the “Monkey Trial”, was a highly publicized 1925 American court case that pitted religion and science against each other. It was a question that many Americans had to ponder.

Nativism and Intolerance:

- People wanted the future and the past, and that was not possible, so there was psychological
tension. This was put into hatred against immigrants and minorities. - Many people in the South were in the KKK, and they were opposed to everyone. They were violent in their ways and terrifying. There were 200 lynchings by the KKK in total.

- People wanted spectator sports, and sports giants were huge.
- Babe Ruth was one of these, and he excelled at the home run. Everyone wanted to see him, and he was a bit of a phenomenon at the time.

A
- America was obsessed with flying.
- 6 had flown over the Atlantic, and all 6 died.
- He tried to do it, and ended up being the first one to successfully make it.
