A form of national identity based around a feeling of being Scottish or
Welsh, rather than British.
Diaspora definition?
The dispersal of an ethnic population from its original homeland, and its
Diaspora spreading out across the world, while retaining cultural and emotional ties to
its area or nation of origin.
Dual identity definition?
When an individual has more than one identity. Some second and third
Dual identity generation British Asians inherit an Asian identity from their parents and

Ethnicity definition?
The shared culture of a social group which gives its members a common in some ways different from that of other social groups. May include a shared racial origin, history, religion, language, common geographical origin, politics, traditions, rituals etc.
Globalisation definition?
The process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society and function together. This process is a combination of economic, technological, cultural and political forces.
Hybrid identity definition?
The way in which different cultures interact, and new identities emerge, formed from a mix of other identities (hybridization). Linked to: Brasian.
Hyper Masculinity definition?
A type of identity sometimes adopted by Black Caribbean boys that encourages (exaggerated) traditional hegemonic masculine traits, unruly behaviour at school etc. Key theorist: Sewell.

The argument put forward by Abercrombie and Warde that a positive source of Islamic identity sometimes developed as a response to being excluded by white society, racism and Islamophobia
Stigmatised identity definition?
A negative sense of identity, based upon adverse reactions from other people based on an attribute, behaviour etc that the person may have. E.g. a disability.
