Book 2 Chapter 5 Flashcards
What is the amplitude
The height of the wave from the middle of the wave.
What is a voltage amplifier
A voltage amplifier increases the magnitude of the voltage signal presented at its input. Amplification = output signal/input signal.
What is a power amplifier
Generates both a large output current and voltage. The power amplification is calculated by multiplying the voltage and current amplification together.
What is the gain of an amplifier
gain = V out / V in
What is the bandwifth
The bandwidth of the amplifier is denied as the range of frequencies within which the voltage doesn’t fall between 0.7 of its maximum value.
What does a pre-amplifier do
Takes the small electrical signal from the microphone and increases the amplitude of the signal voltage.
What does a power amplifier do
Takes this enlarged voltage signal and boosts the current so that it is strong enough to drive the loudspeaker.
What is a mixer
The mixer function adds together electrical signals from microphones or pick-ups from electric guitars or backing tracks from a CD-player.
What does a non-inverting amplifier look like
DRAW IT
What is the voltage gain of the non-inverting amplifier
1+Rf/R1
How can clipping be avoided
Increase the power supply voltage
Decrease amplitude of input signal
Decrease the gain of the amplifier
What is the voltage fain of a inverting amplifier
- Rf/R in
What does an inverting amplifier look like

What does a summing amplifier look like
DRAW IT
What is the equation of Vout of a summing amplifier
-Rf(V1/R1 + V2/R2)
