Q

Endochoral ossification

A
  • Bone forms as cartilage model first
  • blood vessels invade cartilage
  • cartilage is replaced by bone
  • cartilage remains in epiphyseal growth plate
  • growth plate ossifies

Q

Intramembranous ossification

A
  • No cartilage model
  • mesenchymas sees develop + mature into osteoblasts that start deposition of bone
  • residual mesenchymal calls develop blood vessels & bone marrow
  • also occurs in adult bone
