Q

Describe the process of supination and pronation of the forearm

A

supination of the forearm is achieved by the proximal end of the radius spinning beneath the lateral epicondyle of the humorous. This distal end moves from the medial side to the lateral side of the ulna.

16
Q

What are synovial joints?

A

Contain synovial fluid
Ball and socket joint
Covered in hyaline cartilage
The most range of movement

17
Q

What are Fibrous joints?

A

Connected by fibrous tissue
allow a limited range of movement
hinge joints used in flexion and extension

18
Q

What are cartilaginous joints?

A

Connected by cartilage
less movement than synovial joints
pivot joints: supination and pronation of the forearm

19
Q

What is a ligament?

A

Connects bones to bones
Prevents dislocation
Elastic

20
Q

What are tendons?

A

Connect muscle to bone

Enables movement of bones

21
Q

What is cartilage?

A

Flexible connective tissue
Found on the ends of bones
Withstands shock (when you run)
Prevents friction (rubbing on bone on bone)
