Bone Differential Diagnosis Flashcards
1
Q
What are radiographic features of slow growth?
A
- Sharply well defined borders
- Can be corticated
- Displaces normal structures
- Expands rather than perforates cortical plate.
2
Q
What are radiographic features of rapid growth?
A
- No well defined
- Destroys normal structures
- Perforation of cortical plate more common
3
Q
WHat are the clinical features of cysts?
A
- Well defined
- Corticated borders common
- Hydraulic appearance
- Can cause expansion
4
Q
What are clinical features of benign tumors?
A
- Well defined
- Usually corticated
- Displaces structures
- Can cause expansion
5
Q
What are clinical features of inflammatory lesions of bone?
A
- Usually has poorly defined borders.
- Pain variable
- Can have surrounding sclerotic bone
6
Q
What are radiographic features of malignant neoplasms?
A
- poorly defined
- Widens PDL space irregularly
- Irregular resorption of roots
- May cause expansion but will perforate cortex
7
Q
What is Enucleation, Curettage, and Peripheral Ostectomy?
A
Enuc= Removal of lesion only. Curre= Removal of lesion with surrounding bone with hand instrument. Oste= Removal of lesion and bone with rotary instrument.
