bonding Flashcards
1
Q
what are the three chemical bonding’s?
A
Metallic bonding
Ionic bonding
Covalent bonding
2
Q
what is metallic bonding?
A
The valence electrons in metal atoms are loosely held together (low ionization levels). In order to gain a full outer shell, metals tend to lose electrons to form positively charged cations.
3
Q
what is ionic bonding?
A
when electrons are swapped?
4
Q
what is covalent bonding?
A
when electrons are shared/ non metals
5
Q
what are isotopes?
A
an atom with same proton and electron but different number of neutron.
6
Q
how do you calculate the relative atomic mass?
A
Relative Atomic Mass = (percentage abundance x atomic mass) + (percentage abundance x atomic mass)/100
