Bodys response to cardiovascular activity? Flashcards

1
Q

what is increased cardiac output?

A

Calculated by heart rate times stroke volume, the total amount of blood pumped every minute rest 5l/min to over 30 L/ min

Q

what is Increased heart rate and it causes what?

A

Number of beats per minute, heart rate increases during excercise to provide a more rapid supply of nutrients and oxegynated blood to the blood stream

Q

WHat is Increased stroke volume?

A

The amount of blood that is ejected from the left ventricle with each beat of the heart. at rest male 80ml/beat at max can reach 150ml/beat

Q

what is increased blood pressure?

A

Arterioles supplying blood to working muscles vasodilate , forcing more blood from arterioles into the capillaries surrounding the muscles
SYstolic Bp increases compared to diastolic bp, particularly in exercies thst use large muscle groups, such srumming, cycling or swimming.

Q

what is blood redistribution?

A

During excercise, arteries dilate and contract to allow blood to reach certain body areas. Arteries taking blood to working muscles open (vasodilate) to allow more blood flow to the muscles whilst arteries taking blood to non aactive arteries of the body contract (vasoconstriction)

Q

How does the body cool down its overall body temperature?

A

Taking heat from withing the body to the skins surface, (sweating) then evaporation of sweat assits in cooling the body.

Q

what is perpiration?

A

when the body excercises, muscles create heat, to avoid overheating the body uses blood to help regulate temperature. heat is transferred to the skids surface via the blood, when it is released as sweat.

Q

What is respiratory rate?

A

at rest 15 breathes a minute, during excercise 40-50 bpom at an increased respiratory rate there is an increased need for oxegyn and removal of carbon dioxide during excercise.
