What are Sense Organs?
Eyes, Skin, Ears, Nose, Tongue
A Nerve is an organ that contains?
A bundle of nerve cells called Neurons
What is The main function of the Nervous System?
To control and co-ordinate functions throughout the body and respond to internal and external stimuli
What do Neurons do?
Carry electrical messages called impulse throughout the body
the brain is
The control centre of all of the body’s activities
There are three main parts to the brain
- cerebrum
- cerebellum
- brain stem
The cerebrum is?
90% of brains volume
The Nervous system consists of:
Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves and Sense Organs
The Cerebellum
Responsible for controlling muscle movement
What is passive immunity?
Where antibodies are given to a person from the blood of another person
What is active immunity?
Where the body is “actively” producing antibodies to fight infection
What are the 3 lines of defence in the body?
Skin, physical & chemical
What is the brain stem in control of?
Brainstem is in control of heart beat, breathing and blood pressure
