Body Systems Flashcards
In biology, the smallest unit that can perform all life processes.
Cells
Unspecialized cell that are able to develop into many different types of cells.
Stem cell
The process where stem cells become different types of cells
Cell differentiation
A group of similar cells that perform a common function
Tissue
A collection of a tissues that carry out a specialized function of the body.
Organ
A group of organs that work together to perform body functions.
Organ System
A living thing
Organism
Steady internal conditions when external conditions change.
Homeostasis
Removes solid, liquid, and gas waste materials from the body
Excretory System
Exchanges gases between the body and the environment
Respiratory System
It transports gases, nutrients, waste, and other substances throughout the body.
Circulatory System
Removes excess fluid from around organs, produces white blood cells, and absorbs and transports fats.
lymphatic System
The resistances to specific pathogens or disease-causing agents.
Immunity
Protects internal organs, provides supports, helps the body move, and stores minerals.
Skeletal System
Helps the body move
Muscular System
