What is Pathophysiology?
The study of changes in the function of a body system caused by disease
What is Pathology?
The study of the nature and causes of abnormal conditions
What is Etiology (ee-tee-ology)?
The study of the cause of a disease
What is a cell?
The cell is the basic structural unit of the body. Each cell is specialized
What is a cell made up of?
Protoplasm, which includes the cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus.
What is tissue?
Tissue is a group or layer of similarly specialized cells that join together to perform certain specific functions
What is the study of tissue called?
Histology
What are the two types of tissue in the body?
Epithelial and connective
What is epithelial tissue?
the tissue that covers both internal and external surfaces of the body
What is connective tissues?
Holds the organs of the body in place and binds all parts of the body together. Types of connective tissue are: bone, cartilage and adipose or “fat”.
