A
The four principles of proper body mechanics: 1, feet hip-width apart 2, use your legs keep your back straight 3, turn your whole body 4, stay close to the item you're lifting

proper body alignment in a chair?
A
- Body a safe distance from the edge of the chair.
- Sitting with good posture
- Back aligned with chair back.
- Shoulder straight in squared
- Neck, back, and heels aligned.
- Both feet on the ground.
- Arms bent.

Proper body alignment in bed
A
- be positioned a safe distance from the edge of the bed.
- have the head, neck, and spine in a straight line.
- Have the arms at the side or comfortable bent.
- Hips, knees, and feet aligned.
- Nobody part resting on a pressure point( use pillow, if needed).
- The pillow under the neck only not shoulders.

how to assist consumer to stand
A
- Mrs. Smith please move forward on the seat, before you stand.
- Mrs. Smith please position your knees &feet shoulder-width apart, with feet flat on the floor.
* always check body alignment! - Stand on mrs. Smith’s affected weakside, if there is one.
- Mrs. Smith place your strong hand on the chair arm.
- Mrs. Smith on the count of 3 Rock back and forth and use your strong arm to push up.
- Mrs. Smith I have my hand near your back in case you need support when you stand.
- Mrs. Smith how do you ? Are you steady?
- Mrs Smith your body alignment still looks good.

Assisting that consumer to walk
Let’s turn around and head back to your chair Mrs Smith:
Sitting Down
A
- Mrs. Smith we are going to walk to that desk, turn around and walk back to your chair.
- Mrs. Smith I will be standings on your affected side, slightly behind you, with my hand near your back.
- As we walk mrs. Smith please tell me do you feel steady and safe?
Okay Mrs. Smith starting from your side opposite of me we’ll do a little Shuffle dance to get you facing your chair.
- Mrs. Smith with body centered and you’re back now to the chair please slowly step back tell you feel the chair against your legs
- Mrs. Smith, I’m standing on your affected side, place your strong arm on the chair arm.
- On the count of three slowly he’s into the chair.
