Mechanical- protect tissues + organs, framework for overall shape of the body, form levers.
Synthetic- haemopoiesis (holds red bone marrow)
Metabolic- mineral storage (Ca2+), fat storage (yellow bone marrow), acid-base homeostasis (regulates pH)
