How many body structures
4 and classified by body cavity, structure, size and shape
Hypersthenic (largest)
Massive build, 5% of humans, thorax is thick and short, ribs are horizontal, heart is short, diaphragm is high, stomach and gallbladder are high and away from midline
Sthenic (text book body)
50% of humans, organs are “text book “ locations, gallbladder is 2-3in away from spine and 4-5in above hips
Hyposthenic (long legs and short torso)
Almost like “text book” but modified, 35% of humans, gallbladder is 1-2in away from midline and 2-3in away from iliac crest
Asthenic (tiny)
10% of humans, colon floats into self, ribs go downward, broad lungs, gallbladder close to midline, abdominal cavity short and heart is long and narrow
Mastoid tip
Behind ear and located at 1st cervical vertebrae
Gonion (angle of mandible)
From slide burn to jaw line, located at 2nd and 3rd cervical vertebrae
Thyroid cartilage (Adam apple)
4th and 5th cervical vertebrae
Vertebral promines (sharp backbone between neck and back)
Ends the cervical spine located at 7th cervical
Manubria( notch of sternum
Located at 2nd thoracic vertebrae
Sternal angle of sternum
Located at 4th thoracic vertebrae
Notch of sternum
Located 8th thoracic vertebrae
Xiphoid tip/ process
Located at 9th and 10th thoracic vertebrae
Lateral aspect of lilac crest
Located at L-4, top of hips, kidneys found in posterior area of abdomen, right diaphragm and right kidney are higher bc of liver, L-1 and L-3
Anterior superior Liliac spine (Asis)
Anterior aspect of pelvis, L-5 and S-1, to find use digits 1-4 to find liliac crest and thumb to find (ASIS)
