Body - Aerobic Flashcards
1
Q
What is needed for respiration in the human body?
A
- Glucose and Oxygen which is carried around the body and into tissues by blood
2
Q
What must blood also carry?
A
- Away from the body, waste CD away from respiring cells
3
Q
How do these cells move?
A
- Between respiring cells and tiny blood cells called capilaries by a process called diffusion
4
Q
When does diffusion occur?
A
- When particles of a substance spread out, moving from an area where they are in a higher concentration to an area where they are in lower concentration
5
Q
Where do the particles diffuse?
A
- Down a concentration gradient
6
Q
How does the process of Gas Exchange begin?
A
- Lung tissue which is spongy and full of tiny air sacs (alveoli),
- These sacs are surrounded by capilaries, and oxygen that enters the body through the lungs moves into the body by diffusion
7
Q
How does Carbon Dioxide leave the body? (GE)
A
- By diffusion into the air spaces. As one gas is entering the blood stream another is leaving it.
- This is the process of GE
