Located near, or at, the bow of the boat

28
Q

Freeboard

A

The vertical distance from the waterline to the gunwale

31
Q

Waterline

A

The intersection of a boat’s hull and the water’s surface

designed to rise up on top of water at higher speeds for small boats

34
Q

hull type:

flat bottom

A

fishing, slow speeds and calm water

35
Q

hull type:

round bottom

A

canoes
moves smoothly with little effort
must be cautions when loading/entering/existing because they roll easily

36
Q

hull type:

Deep v- hull

A

Most cowwom type of powerboats

moves smoothly in rough water at high speed

required a larger engine than other boats

37
Q

hull type:

multi hull

A

most stable type

require. lot of room for steern and turn

catamarans and pontons

      • drive use four-stroke automative engines modified for use of the water
      • mounted inside the boat,
      • attached through the transom
      • they power the drive shaft, which is connected to the propeller
      • when the steering wheel used to control the stern drive engine is adjusted… it changes the direction of the propeller
