Q

Triglyceride properties and structure.

A
  • High ratio of energy storing Carbon - Hydrogen bonds, meaning its hydrolysed during respiration.
  • Low mass to energy ratio, meaning that they are a good storage molecule for storage in low volumes as there is less mass to move around.
  • Large and non-polar molecules meaning that they are insoluble in water and will not affect the water potential in cells.
  • Have a high ratio of hydrogen - oxygen atoms, meaning water is released when they’re hydrolysed.
