What is the significance of 3 paces?

A

3 paces is approximately 8 ft. or the length of a horse. This distance was used so that the horses in the rear rank would not have their noses too close to the rump of the horse in the front rank, which may cause the horse in front to kick back.

A

a) Females were invited to become regular members
b) Members were paid overtime for working in excess of 40 hrs/wk
c) Married persons were allowed to join
d) All new vehicles are delivered in RCMP “Centennial” blue and white
e) Summer order of dress was short sleeve shirt, long blues and forage cap.

24
Q

What was the last year for blue and white RCMP vehicles?

A

1994 – The RCMP re-designed the police vehicle to consist of a white vehicle with decals of the crest and the lettering RCMP-GRC. This was done for a few reasons. The decals increased visibility of the vehicles and saved money. The Centennial blue had to be specially ordered and then the doors painted white. When a vehicle was disposed of, the doors had to be painted back to blue to match the car. White was a common colour available for all vehicles and did not require repainting the doors when vehicles were disposed of after service.

25
Q

Where did the term Forage Cap come from?

A

It is said that it originated with the caps worn by British Cavalry that were used to gather forage for their horses.

A

Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC)
