Private James W Reese story
Acting Squad leader of a 60mm maneuvered his squad to a favorable position causing many casualties in enemy ranks . When fire became severe he ordered his squad to safety and moved his mortar to a new position and took out a machine gun nest. No more ammo he seized a rifle and held off enemy until he was killed
Sergeant Francis X McGraw story
Manned a heavy machine gun in a foxhole, enemy launched a fierce counter attack. Hostile forces brought up a machine gun in an effort to dislodge him. He stood up on a log and knocked out the enemy weapon. A rocket blasted his gun from position but then he retrieved it and continued firing. He took out a second machine gun nest. In the mist of battle, with enemy troops taking advantage of his predicament to press forward, he cleaned his gun, put it back into action and drove off the attackers. He continued to fire until his Ammo was expended. He picked up a carbine, killed one enemy soldier, will need another and engaged in a desperate fire fight with a third until he was mortally wounded by a burst from a machine pistol

Was a major factor in stopping enemy tanks during heavy attacks against the battalion position. Took out two tanks. A third tank approach too within 5 yards of his position while he was attempting to clear a jammed breech lock. Jumping from his gun pay, he engaged in a pistol door with the tank commander standing in the turret, killing him and force in the tank to withdraw. The enemy struck on the early morning of the 21st corporal warner took out another tank disregarding his injuries he endeavored to finish the loading and again fire at the tank who’s mortar was now aflame, when a 2nd machine gun burst killed him
