Question 1

What to do during a BLS situation?

Answer 1

1. Assume all victims are COVID positive unless known otherwise
2. Do initial assessment of victim - wear necessary PPE
3. Shout for HELP and call 999 (dial 2222 in hospital)
4. Look for absence of signs of life and shout out to victim (do not go near the airway)
5. Look for chest movements (do not listen over airway or feel the chest)
6. Check for carotid pulse
7. Use bag valve mask if available
8. Start chest compressions
9. Attach defibrillator if relevant / available
