Y Tubing…
- Order blood
- consent
- go get blood and get tubing ready
- dual check with lic. caregiver
- infuse w/in 30 min or return to blood bank
- 4 HOURS, remain w/ pt for first 15 min.
- Infuse slowly…
- educate signs and sx

Reaction manifestations
A
- fever w/ or w/o chills
- pain
- flushing
- itching/pruritis/uticaria
- dyspnea
- tachypnea/wheezing/rales/ bronchospasm

Reaction Interventions
A
- stop transfusion?
- maintain patient IV with NS
- notice HCP and blood blank
- recheck ID
- monitor VS and urine output
- treat sx per order
- send blood bag and tubing to blood bank
- collect blood and urine specimens per institution
- document
