Pressure against artery wall between heart beats when heart is at rest

How does the ausculatory method work
A
A cuss is inflated and pressure is slowly released.
When systolic blood pressure is reaches blood starts to flow and a whooshing sound is heard.
When there is no more sound it is diastolic pressure
