Q

what affects cardiac output?

A

-stroke volume (volume of blood ejected per beat)
-heart rate
(stroke volume x heart rate)

Q

what is arteriolar resistance?

A

diameter of vessel < diameter more resistance to flow there > blood pressure (IDFK)

16
Q

What occurs when your blood pressure is too high?

A

impulse is sent to medulla. stimulates parasympathetic nerves. arteries dilate increasing blood flow and decrease in heart rate and stroke volume

17
Q

What occurs when your blood pressure is too low?

A

impulse is sent to medulla. sympathetic nerves are stimulated. increasing cardiac output and arterioles to constrict raising blood pressure

18
Q

how does stress affect blood pressure?

A

sympathetic nerves stimulate to release of epinephrine.

19
Q

What does epinephrine do to the heart rate?

A

increases heart rate and breathing rate. causes release of rbs from spleen. blood increase to internal organs (head, muscle, heart), decrease to others (stomach, intestine)
