Blood Flow In The Heart Flashcards
1
DEOXYGENATED blood coming into the heart from the Superior / Inferior Vena Cava and enters the Right Atrium
2
One the blood enters the right atrium it will head down towards the Right Ventricle
3
Before the blood moves from the R.A to the R.V it must 1st pass through the Tricuspid Valve
4
After the blood moves from the R.V it passes through the Pulmonary Valve the blood flow splits into 2. One blood flow heads towards the Left Pulmonary Artery and other towards the Right Pulmonary Artery
5
The L.PA and R.PA carries the blood into the lungs at this point the blood is BLUE because it has very little OXGYEN and it full of CARBON DIOXIDE.
6
This is because the blood that travelled from the S.VC and I.VC came from the whole body carrying waste products, so it s the job of the lungs to get rid of the waste by BREATHING OUT the carbon dioxide
7
Blood travels to the lungs to pick up oxygen and makes the blood OXYGENATED
8
After the blood has picked up all the oxygen, the blood turns RED
9
The blood moves from the lungs into Left Pulmonary Vein / Right Pulmonary Vein back towards the heart
10
After the blood reaches the Pulmonary Veins it moves into Left Atrium
11
The blood moves down towards the Left Ventricle but before the blood moves it 1st passes the Bicuspid / Mitral Valve then heads towards the L.V
12
After the blood is in the L.V it passes the last valve called the AORTIC VALVE. The A.V divide the L.V from the AORTA
13
- The blood travels from the A.V towards the AORTA / DESCENDING AORTA. Once the blood has made to the aorta it travels towards the rest of the body
Artery
Blood travels Away from the heart
Vein
Blood travels Towards the heart
S.VA / I.VA
Are both veins that bring blood towards the heart
Valves
Keeps blood moving in the same direction to avoid blood moving backwards ( from the atrium to the ventricle)
Aorta
Blood travelling the upper half the body
Descending Aorta
Blood travelling the lower half the body
A before V
Atrium before Ventricle
Semilunar Valve
Pulmonary / Aortic valve
Pulmonary semilunar valve / Aortic semilunar valve
Try before you buy
Tricuspid valve before Bicuspid valve
Blood Moves In the Heart
From Right to Left
Aortic arch
Is one blood vessel that carries blood to the entire body
