Blood and Nerve supply to the face Flashcards
What supplies blood to the face
Facial artery
Transverse facial artery
What is the pathway of the facial artery?
The facial artery arises in the carotid triangle from the external carotid artery.
it arches to enter a groove on the posterior surface of the submandibular gland.
It then curves upward over the body of the mandible at the antero-inferior angle of the masseter, passes forward and upward across the cheek to the angle of the mouth, then ascends along the side of the nose, and ends at the medial commissure of the eye, under the name of the angular artery.
What are the branches of the facial artery in the face?
Inferior labial
Superior labial
Lateral nasal
What forms the facial vein?
Supra trochlear vein & supra orbital vein unites to form angular vein and continues as facial vein in the medial angle of eye
What forms the common facial vein and where is it drained?
The facial vein unites with retromandibular vein to form common facial vein and terminates by draining in to internal jugular vein
What nerve is responsible for the sensory factors in the face?
Trigeminal nerve
What are the branches of the trigeminal nerve?
Ophthalmic , Maxillary and Mandibular branches
What are the branches for the motor nerve supply in the face?
Temporal Zygomatic Buccal Marginal mandibular Cervical
