What are anaemia dental findings?
Angular cheilitis Recurrent oral ulceration Candidiasis Glossitis Burning mouth syndrome Mucosal Pallour
General signs and symptoms of Leukaemia
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Ulcers
- Gingival swelling
- Lymphadenopathy
- Anaemia
What is Lymphona?
- Malignant transformation of B or T lymphocytes
- Hodgkins: often begin in neck
- Non-Hodgkins: painless enlarged cervical nodes, infections, ulceration
Lymphoma- 50% cases present with painless neck node
What is Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura ?
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is an immune disorder in which the blood doesn’t clot normally. ITP can cause excessive bruising and bleeding
What treatment is given for Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura?
•Treatment steroids, immunosupressants, splenectomy,
thrombopoiesis stimulating drugs
Avoid regional blocks
•Avoid aspirin and NSAID (damage platelets)
•Specialist care for dental procedures
What must a patient on Warfarin (oral anticoagulant) (blood thinner) be?
Normal INR 1.0
Therapeutic treatment if <4.0
check blood within 24-72 hours
must be stable
