  • they carry oxygen molecules from the lungs to all cells in the body
  • bioconcave shape provides large surface area
  • no nucleus allowing for more room to carry oxygen
  • contains haemoglobin

  • part of the immune system (the body’s defence system against pathogens)
  • have a nucleus
  • A range of types: those that produce antibodies, those that digest pathogens & those that produce antitoxins to enutralise toxins

  • help blood clot at the site of wound
  • the clot dries and hardens to form a scab, which allows new skin to grow underneath while preventing microorganisms from entering
  • small fragements of cells
