Blood Flashcards
Blood
Blood is a tissue consisting of plasma, in which the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are suspended.
White Blood Cells
Way bigger than red blood cells
Immunity
Fights of bacteria and viruses
Red blood cells
Your-red blood cells contain haemoglobin that binds to oxygen to transport it from the lungs to
the tissues.
Plasma
The main role of plasma is to take nutrients, hormones, and proteins to the parts of the body that need it. Cells also put their waste products into the plasma.
Arteries
Arteries are the blood vessels that cary blood away from the heart
arteries have
a narrow central core and thick
muscular walls. This means that blood from the
heart is kept at high pressure and
flows quickly to reach every part
of the body, even the little toes!
