What does OBIGGS stand for and what is its purpose
Onboard Inert Gas Generation System
Provides Nitrogen Enriched Air (NEA) to the fuel tanks to prevent explosion under ballistic threats
Describe UARRSI
Universal Aircraft Refueling Receptacle Slipway Installation
On the crown of the FWD section of the Aircraft, provides P8A with Aerial refueling capabilities
What is the total fuel capacity of the P8A in gallons
10,856
What makes the P8A an all weather aircraft
Bleed air for thermal anti icing
Electrical anti icing
Windshield wipers
What type of APU is on the P8A and what does it provide
Honeywell 131-9B, Self contained gas turbine engine installed in a fireproof compartment in the tail section.
Provides the Aircraft with bleed air and electrical power
What are the 6 sections of the CFM56-7B?
1) Fan and Booster section
2) High Pressure Compressor
3) Combustor
4) High Pressure Turbine
5) Low Pressure Turbine
6) Accessory Drive
Describe the purpose of the Fan and Booster section.
The fan and booster section increases the speed of the air to create compression.
Describe the purpose of the High Pressure Compressor.
The HPC is a 9 stage compressor that sends compressed air to the combustor as well as supplies bleed air for aircraft pneumatic systems.
Describe the purpose of the Combustor section.
The combustor section mixes air from the compressors and fuel from the fuel nozzles to make hot gases.
Describe the purpose of the High Pressure Turbine.
The HPT converts the energy from the hot gases provided by the combustor section into mechanical energy to turn the HPC rotor and accessory drive.
Describe the purpose of the Low Pressure Turbine.
The LPT converts hot gases from the combustor into mechanical energy to turn the fan and booster rotor.
