Why do we blink? (4 reasons)
A
- to spread tear film to lubricate the cornea (spontaneous blink)
- to expel debris from the eye (reflex blink - sensory corneal afferents)
- to protect it from foreign objects (reflex blink - looming visual stimuli)
- to convey emotions (voluntarily blink)

For TA lecture: Don’t do circuitry with blinks, but she talked about some of the same brain areaas, blinking interfres with visual processng and perception

The brain switches back and forth between the Dorsal Attention Network (DAN) and Default Mode Network (DMN), perhaps during blinking switching to DMN?
