- Comes from an artery
- Is bright red
- Gushes forth in jets or spurts synchronized with victims pulse

What are the steps of treating a bleeding wound?
A
- Bandage application
- Pressure
- Elevate injured area
- Pressure points
- Repeat as necessary
- Tourniquet (last resort only)

What are the steps in applying a tourniquet?
A
- Place 2-3 inches above wound
- Wrap around limb twice and secure in place
- Attach a note to victim with location of tourniquet and time it was applied
- Do NOT loosen tourniquet
- Continue to treat for shock and obtain medical attention
