What are the steps for bleaching teeth?
1) Confirm endodontic and coronal status of the tooth
2) Apply rubber dam
3) Base layer over root filling (Cavit/GIC/IRM)
4) Place bleach over labial wall of pulp chamber (Sodium perborate/ carbamide peroxide/ hydrogen peroxide)
What is the difference between hue, value, chroma?
Hue: Descriptive term to enable one to distinguish between families of colour
Value: Relative lightness or darkness of a colour
Chroma: Degree of colour saturation and describes the strength of a colour as it changes
What does the normal colour of teeth depend on?
The blue, pink and green tints of the enamel which is reinforced by the yellow to brrown shades of dentine
What are some causes of intrinsic discolouration?
- Amelogenesis imperfecta
- Congenital hyperbilirubinaemia
- Dentinogenesis imperfecta
- Tetracycline staining
- Fluorosis
- Aging
