How were Black Americans discrimiated in the 1950’s?
A
- in the south, ‘Jimmy Crow’ laws enforced segregation
- in 1896 Homer Plessey challenged segragation on trains saying it was against the 14th Amendment, but Supreme Court overruled him
- Plessey v Ferguson case of 1896 upheld Jim Crow Laws.

A
- blacks had the worst jobs
- lived in the poorest parts of towns and cities known as “ghettos”

- Sepearte restauransts, cinema, schools and buses
- facilites in black school were much worse
