A
It is incorporated into the bone matrix by forming tight complexes with calcium. And can last months and even up to years. High conc of the bisphosphonate inhibits the bone resorption activity of osteoclasts. It is ingested by osteoclast which has toxic effects causing osteoclast apoptosis

Short half-life in plasma - 6hrs
Long half life in bone - 10 years
