Q

sam working night shift
difficulty sleeping in day
worried wont be alert
Use knowledge of endog and exog to explain sams experience

A

Endogenous pacemakers are internal biological rhythms
Exogenous zeitgebers are external factors-light
Moving to the night shift means pacemakers try to impose inbuilt rhythms of sleep but are now out of sync with zeitgeber of light.
Disruption of biological rhythm has been shown to lead to disruption of sleep patterns inc anx decreased alertness
