Little rain, hostile, lack of vegetation

Flowing water, Springs, fish inhabitants

Where the tide meets the stream
Coral Reefs
a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of coral
Open Ocean
sunlit top layer of the ocean
Littoral Zone
near shore area where sunlight gets all the way to the sediment and allows aquatic plants to grow.
Benthic Zone
the lowest level of a body of water such as an ocean or a lake, including the sediment surface and some sub-surface layers
Invasive Species
plants, animals, or pathogens that are non-native to the ecosystem
Endangered Species
a species of animal or plant that is seriously at risk of extinction
Mass Extinction
widespread and rapid decrease in the biodiversity on Earth.
