BioMechanics Flashcards
What is discrete skills?
Movement with a definite beginning and end point
What is continuous skill?
Cycle of motion performed repeatedly with no well-defined beginning or end point/s
What is serial skill?
Movements that appear to be continuous but are a combination of discrete motions
What is an example of serial skill?
Triple jump
What is an example of continuous skill?
walking
What is an example of discrete skill?
long jump
In regards to the properties of force, what is direction?
The way the force is applied
In regards to the properties of force, what is orientation?
Alignment of the vector in relation to cardinal directions
In regards to the properties of force, what is magnitude?
Size of the applied force
In regards to the properties of force, what is point of application?
The point at which systems receives the applied force
In regards to the properties of force, what is line of action?
Imaginary line extending indefinitely along the vector through the tip and tail.
Is mass equal to weight?
NO
In regards to force acting on the body, what is
usually provided by muscles
